Alpine Ski IQ
Ski Smarter. Live Better. Enjoy the Slopes for a Lifetime.
Alpine Ski IQ — a space dedicated to helping skiers of all ages and abilities enjoy the lifelong gift of skiing. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to extend your skiing years well into your 70s, 80s, and beyond, this is where passion meets preparation.
I’ve been chasing turns since age 11, starting at Badger Pass in Yosemite, California. What began as a wobbly first lesson turned into a lifetime of joy, challenge, and discovery. My mission? To keep skiing until I’m 100 — or until it’s simply impossible. Along the way, I want to share what I’ve learned to help you get the most out of every run.
Why Alpine Ski IQ?
- For lifelong skiers: Discover how to adapt and thrive on the slopes as your body changes.
- For beginners: Learn the habits that will help you fall in love with skiing — and stay safe while doing it.
- For everyone: Reframe skiing as more than a sport. It’s about joy, preparation, and savoring every turn.
The Warren Miller Mindset
“Recalibrate your values to reward joy, not physical prowess. No one keeps score on what you’re doing except you.”
This philosophy is at the heart of Alpine Ski IQ. Skiing isn’t about comparing yourself to others. It’s about preparing wisely, listening to your body, and enjoying the experience.
Preparation Matters
Skiing has a steep learning curve, real risks, and real costs. But that’s exactly why preparation is the key to skiing well into your later years. From physical training to knowing when to rest, the smartest skiers make choices today that keep them on the mountain tomorrow.
